New Hanoi Arts House

The New Hanoi Arts House reflects the murals, paintings and images of public artworks designed by Thu Thuy since 2006. Murals featuring flora and fauna are on the first two floors. Photography highlighting Thu Thuy’s past public artworks line the stairwell. A mirror room on the fifth floor, designed by Thu Thuy and Mike Savad combine graphic imagery with an iconic symbol of Vietnam. Even the outdoor balcony serves as a flower garden. Entrance is free of charge.

Rhita

Assembly and disassembly designed for sustainability cause. With an Innovative hinge structure system designed, 70 percent of parts were reduced, no glue or rivet for fixation, no sewing of the inner lining, that makes it easier to be repaired, and downsized 33 percent of freight volume, eventually, extend the suitcase life-cycle. All parts can be purchase individually, for customizing own suitcase, or parts replacement, no returning suitcase to repair center needed, saves time and reduce shipping carbon footprint.

No Footprint House

The NFH is developed for serial production, based on a larger toolbox of prefabricated residential typologies. A first prototype was built for a European family in the southwest of Costa Rica. They chose a two-bedroom configuration with steel structure and pine wood finishes, which was shipped to its target location on one single truck. The building is designed around a central service core in order to optimize logistical efficiency regarding assembly, maintenance and usage. The project seeks for integral sustainability in terms of its economic, environmental, social and spatial performance.

The Pilgrimage

Lang Song minor seminary, where preserves the history of forming the Vietnamese national script, with outstanding architecture and landscape on rice fields are the inspiration for a community based tourism development. The idea of preserving and promoting heritage value in a new age is expressed through urban planning and design around a square, recreating the connection with the river. Pilgrimage to Lang Song is a journey to find the origin of modern script. By the functional spaces and light, the design aims to give visitors a sense of sacred land converging the cultural essence of the area.

Hakka Culture Plaza

This case is a landscape renovation project that connects the Hakka Ancestral Hall with the commercial area. In the Lingnan area, people live in compact communities, and ancestral halls are the sustenance of family blood ties in villages. So, over the years, there has developed a unique ancestral hall culture in the area. In the renovation process of the Shenzhen Vanke Tianyu project, the ancestral hall is taken as an entity in the inheritance of the cultural memory and a realistic reflection of the historical features.

Moonlight Huotang

As the first commission project of Huotang series for the Dong ethnicity in Guangnan county, Guangxi of China, Moonlight Huotang is particularly for the group of villagers who carry on the Pipa music culture. The unique convex shape of the ceiling enhances the sense of gathering in response to a better acoustic environment while the entry chamber provides a multifunction space as a changing room, food preparation room and confession room. It is part of a culture-led rural regeneration which intends to revive the economy of a county whose young generations have moved to larger urban areas.
